Chapter 9 Starts Now...
<8:00a>
“C” wakes us up, we start the day with a
nice kiss then Howie goes to his room to shower, I go take
a shower and get dressed, grab a cup of coffee and check my
email and goof around on the net for a while. At 8:45 I grab
my masker and teleport to the transport control room.
<Transport control room>
Get the maskers, tickets, and passes ready,
then sit down for a few. About 8:55 I hear the guys headed for
the transport room. Gary comes in, ‘Well are you ready?’ ‘Sure
thing, lets go.’ We grab the stuff and head for the transport
room.
<Transport room>
I have Gary take the lead, then when I walk
in, ‘Bob…what the hell are you doing here?’ ‘Same thing I did
yesterday, Boo.’ ‘So that’s what you were up to all day.’ ‘You
got that right, Bone.’ I get two group hugs, one from the Boys,
one from the protection team, ‘Well this is going to be different,
now we’ll have to be careful what we say.’ ‘You got that right
Nicky.’ Gary and I hand the stuff out, ‘Lets do this, I’ll get
us there, Burt…you get us back. “C” BSB beacon on, ours on standby.’
I open the portal and Kevin and Gary take my arms, and we walk
thru, I check the call sign and we walk in to the hotel suite.
<Hotel suite>
As we walk into ‘Howie’s’ suite, ‘Have a
good snooze Keith?’ ‘What the…Bob what are you doing here?’
‘Getting your lazy butt up that’s what.’ Keith makes two phone
calls and in 30 seconds the other doppelgangers show up and
I get a group hug, ‘Ok, change to normal, or as close as you
can get, and have a good day off. But first what’s George’s
phone number?’ Keith tells me and I call him, ‘George? This
is Bob from A & A, we’re here, in Howie’s room, ok see you
in a few.’ While we wait, Nicks cell phone rings, when he hangs
up, ‘Bob…my parents are here, they would like to meet you and
talk for a while. I told them to meet us for breakfast.’ ‘Ok…thanks
for the warning.’ ‘I was going to tell you yesterday, but I
forgot.’ ‘Normal.’ George shows up and we head for the banquet
room. On the way I ask for a master key and tell him why I want
it.
<Banquet room>
When we walk in a lady and gentleman come
over and hug Nick, ‘Must be his parents.’ go over and
get something to eat, then find a table in the corner, sit down
and start to eat. Nick and his parents head my way, I get up
and walk over to meet them, Nick introduces us and we shake
hands, ‘Nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Carter, have you eaten
yet?’ ‘Not yet.’ ‘Nick take your parents over to get something
to eat, before I kick your butt.’ Nick looks at me and
gives me a strange smile. I realize this is the first time I’ve
talked to any of the BS Boys telepathically. He takes his parents
over to the buffet and they get something to eat and head back
over to my table, I stand up, ‘Have a seat Mr. and Mrs. Carter,
what may I do for you?’ ‘First call me Bob.’ ‘And call me Jane.’
his parents say. ‘Ok Jane, Bob, what can I do for you?’ ‘Do
you think Aaron has powers like Nick does?’ ‘I’d say it’s a
50-50 chance, what they are, or how powerful they maybe, no
one can say.’ ‘How long will it take to find out?’ ‘I can find
out in a min., but unlocking them may take longer.’ ‘When can
we find out?’ ‘After we eat, if you want to, or when ever it’s
best for you. I would prefer to do it at the complex if that’s
alright with you. And you and the rest of the family are welcome
to come along if you want, I’ll have room set up for you so
you can stay for a while and look around. Just remember…some
mutants do not look like normal people, but they still need
to be treated with dignity.’ ‘When would be the best time for
you?’ ‘Any time tomorrow afternoon, I’m still recovering, and
I’ve been pushing myself a little too hard, so I would like
to get some good sleep tonight and tomorrow.’ they ask why and
I tell them what happened. ‘Your joking right?’ ‘Not about the
parts I can remember, the rest I got from a very good source.
Ask the Boys, they were there, see what they say.’ George comes
over, ‘Bob…are you ready.’ ‘When ever you are. Are you two joining
us?’ ‘Sure we’d like to talk to Nick some more.’ We get up and
head over to the Boys table, they’re just finishing up with
the autographs, when they’re done , ‘Ok guys, George, lets go.
Gary please bring up the rear.’ ‘Will do Bob.’ we get
to the bus with to much trouble.
<Bus>
‘I’m going to the back so Jane and Bob can
talk to you guys in private. Get me when your ready, or when
we get to the venue.’ I go and sit on a bunk and relax, I can
hear that they are talking but I don’t pay any attention to
the conversation. As the bus slows down, Jane and Bob come to
the back. ‘Bob…please accept our apology, we didn’t believe
you, but the guys confirmed everything you said.’ ‘No problem,
I haven’t used any of my powers since we’ve met, that you could
see that is, so I can believe that you would have some doubts.
We live in a world of unbelievers, which can be useful on occasions.’
‘We’re almost there, do you need a hand up?’ ‘No, I’m fine.’
I get up and we head to the front of the bus, it jerks to a
stop, I throw up a shield so everyone stays put, ‘Bob…did you
do that?’ ‘What, stopping the bus, or keeping us in place?’
‘Keeping us from falling.’ ‘Yes, that’d be me.’ <grin>
‘Thanks.’ ‘No problem. You ready George?’ ‘Yeah, lets go.’
<Venue>
We get the guys to the venue with out any
problems. BSB do their sound check and dance practice. Bob,
Jane, myself and occasionally some of the security team and
the protection team have a nice long chat. When the guys are
done we head back to the hotel
<Hotel>
When we get the guys back to the hotel, I
go to ‘Howie’s’ - Keith’s room and lay down for about an hour
Brian comes in and gets me for lunch, we sit around for a half
hour, then it’s back to the bus to go to the venue
<Venue>
As Kevin, Nick, and Howie take a seat to
get made up I go over to the make-up crew, ‘Well I feel sorry
for you guys.’ they give me a questioning look, ‘Trying to get
these guys to look good in a short time must be hard work.’
the make-up people start to laugh and the Boys shoot me a dirty
look. ‘Go ahead and get to work, these guys need it.’ I walk
over to Bob and Jane, ‘How do you do that?’ Bob asks. ‘Well
I’ve been doing that as long as I can remember, it just comes
naturally for me. It’s when you get the silent treatment that
you have to worry, that’s when I’m mad and anything can happen.’
Kevin gets done first and comes over to me, ‘Bob can we talk?
In private?’ ‘Sure Kev, lead the way.’ He goes to one of the
smaller dressing rooms and we go inside. When the door closes
Kevin pulls me in to a big hug and gives me a light kiss on
the cheek, ’Thanks Bob.’ ‘For what Kev?’ ‘For being a friend…and
hooking up with Howie. I’ve never seen him happier.’ ‘Thanks…but
it was his idea that we get together. I thought he was unhappy,
but I never thought he’d want someone like me.’ ‘What’s that
supposed to mean.’ ‘ I’m so much older than he is, out of shape,
turning gray, and a royal pain.’ ‘And your brave, caring, and
nice. And yes a royal pain, I’m not looking forward to the first
time your in the Danger room with us.’ <grin> ‘Yeah…that’ll
be fun, but lets get back so they don’t come looking for us.
Thanks for the support, I’m glad you guys don’t mind an outsider
hooking up with one of you.’ Kevin gives me another hug, ’Your
not an outsider, your one of the family. The big brother that
takes care of us.’ ‘Thanks…I think.’ <grin> then we head
back to the main dressing room. When the make-up artists leave
and the guys are in there costumes I do the tug test on them,
it seams my idea might work. I make a mental note to tell Jeff
about it tomorrow, and give him the mic. pack to see what he
can do with it. I go out and find a good place to watch both
on and off stage, ‘Gary are they ready to go?’ ‘Yeah, just
about ready.’ ‘Ok I’ll stay here.’ the guys come to the
ready area then hit the stage to start the concert. After it’s
done they have the second meet and greet, then it’s back to
the hotel.
<Hotel suite>
When we get back to ‘Howie’s’ - Keith’s room
I walk over to Nicks parents, ‘Jane, Bob, it was nice to meet
you, I’ll call you tomorrow about testing Aaron.’ ‘Bob…can we
come along?’ ‘Sure…did you drive here?’ ‘No we flew in.’ ‘Ok…since
I’ve got the time this is how we do it, we open a portal to
get us from here to the complex, then I’ll have you say your
names for voice print identification, then get a room ready
for you , then I’m going to the rec. room for something to eat,
you can come with me or go with Nick when we get there.’ I check
my pockets, no extra tracking rings, ‘Gary, do you have any
tracking rings with you?’ He checks his pockets, ‘No I don’t,
why?’ ‘Jane and Bob want to join us.’ ‘Do you want to take us
back then?’ ‘No Bert and you can handle it, we’ll just be in
the front, are we ready?’ Gary and Burt nod, the Boys nod, Jane
and Bob nod, ‘Ok lets do it.’ I take Jane and Bob to the front,
and have Jane grab Burt, and Bob grab Gary, I grab both of them
and Kevin and Howie grab me. Burt opens the portal, Gary contacts
“C”, and we walk thru into the transport room.
<Transport room>
‘Jane, Bob please state your names for voice
print identification.’
‘Bob Carter’
‘Confirmed’

‘Confirmed’
‘Welcome to the complex Mr. and Mrs. Carter,
I hope you enjoy your stay.’ ‘Thank you “C”, please have Travis
get a guest room ready. Bob, Jane this is “C”, he is our main
computer, he has a sense of humor, so be careful what you ask
for, you may get it.’ ‘Bob, Travis is on the line.’ ‘Yes Travis.’
‘Where would like me to put the visitors?’ ‘It’s Nick’s parents,
so some where as close to his room as you can.’ ‘Is room 20
ok? ‘Sure, oh…they didn’t bring any thing with them, so supply
what ever you can.’ ‘Will do.’ ‘Thanks Trav, I’ll talk to you
later. Ok lets put the stuff away.’
<Transport control room>
Put the maskers, tickets, and passes away,
grab a few tracking rings, two for Jane and Bob, and some as
extras. ‘I’m going to the armory then the rec. room, I’ll grab
a couple of tables. Who ever wants to, grab a shower, Yes that’d
be you Nick. Bob, Jane would you like to go with me or Nick?’
they look at each other, ‘Bob we’ll go with you.’ the protection
team and the Boys take off, ‘Here are your tracking rings, sort
of an insurance policy for when we transport or portal. Follow
me.’
<Complex>
First we go to the armory to turn in my laser
pistols, then we go to get something to eat. As we head to the
rec. room, Bob and Jane look around with stunned expressions
on their faces, ‘My god this place is huge.’ Jane whispers,
‘Yes it is, but you’ll get use to it if your around for a while.’
<Rec. room >
We go over to the bar and order our drinks
and get a couple of menus, then go over and grab a couple of
tables by N sync . In about five min. our drinks arrive and
the waiter takes our food orders. The BSB protection team show
up in about ten min., then our food shows up. As we start to
eat , Howie, Kevin, and Nick show up. Nick sits down next to
me and starts to swipe my onion rings, ‘Keep it up Nick and
you’ll get it.’ The protection team, N sync, Jane, Bob, Kevin,
and Howie start to snicker, Nick looks at my sheepishly and
takes one more, I make a reverse “L” with my finger, his chair
goes five foot back and ten foot in the air, the people start
to laugh, Nick lets out a little yelp, ‘Bob…please put me down.’
‘Are you going to mess with my food again?’ ‘No.’ ‘Ok then.’
when I put Nick down the waiter shows up with some menus for
the late arrivals to look at and order, I glance at Nick and
he’s pale, almost white, ‘What’s wrong Nick?’ ‘I don’t like
heights to well.’ ‘Sorry Nick, I didn’t know. With all the stuff
you guys do I’d never guess. But I can take care of that if
you want.’ ‘What…you can?’ ‘Sure I can put a block on your fear
like your powers were blocked.’ ‘You might wanna do B-rok too.’
‘I will if he wants me to.’ Nick gives me a hug, ‘Thanks, when
can you do it?’ ‘Tomorrow afternoon after I eat, if I don’t
go after Aaron first.’ ‘Lets check him second and I’ll go with
you.’ ‘I was planning on taking your parents.’ ‘We can all go.’
‘Just what I need a family outing.’ <grin> A.J. and Brian
show up, Nick gets up and goes over to Brian, starts to talk
very quickly and drags Brian over to me, ‘Bob…you can take away
our fear of flying?’ ‘I should…’ he comes over and gives me
a hug, ‘When?’ ‘Just a min., I need to get this setup.’ I look
around and see Gary, ‘Gary, would you come over here for
a few?’ ‘Sure.’ he walks over, ‘What do you need Bob?’ ‘What
are you doing tomorrow?’ ‘N sync protection.’ ‘Well there goes
that idea, I’ll have to use some one else, thanks any way .’
I look around and see Pat R., I wave him over, ‘What’s up Bob?’
‘What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?’ ‘Nothing, what do
you need?’ ‘I need help with a couple of fear of flying problems.’
‘Who?’ ‘Frick and Frack.’ ‘Sure, when?’ ‘Some time tomorrow
afternoon, I’m sleeping in.’ ‘Let me know and I’ll join you.’
‘Thanks Pat, see you later. Now you two, go away, I’d like to
finish eating.’ A.J. and Brian order something to eat, then
hit the dance floor. As I finish up, the food starts to arrive
so I mentally let them know. When the song is done they start
to come back, when they’re all back, ‘I’m going to crash. Jane,
Bob are you going to stay here or do you want me to escort you
to your room?’ ‘I’m getting tired also, I’ll join you.’ Jane
replies, and Bob nods his head. ‘Well guys I’ll see you sometime
tomorrow, have a good concert, and a good workout in the Danger
room, And Nick, take care of your Parents.’ we head over to
the R & R section and I show them to their room, ‘If you
guys need anything, let me know, you can call or have “C” do
it. I’ll be awake for awhile so don’t be afraid to call.’
<My room>
Go into my bedroom and strip down, throw
on a robe, and go back to the office, and sit at my desk, ‘
“C” Pats voicemail please.’ ‘Ready.’ ‘Pat I’ll need to use the
Danger room for ten to fifteen min. tomorrow afternoon, I’m
going to unfear to fly Frick and Frack, I’ll let you know when
I’m ready. Thanks. End. “C” Randy’s voicemail now.’ ‘Ready.’
‘Randy please prep the blackbird for a short flight tomorrow
afternoon, I’ll be in touch with a time later, but it will be
afternoon. Thanks. End. Thanks “C”.’ I surf the net for a while
then go to bed. Howie shows up and strips down for bed, I just
love the way his muscle’s move under his skin, his long hair,
god he’s beautiful. I’m so lucky he cares for me. Then I get
a cringe…what’ll I do if he leaves me. God I’m falling to fast,
but I’ll hope it‘ll last. We start to hug and kiss, then lay
down and go to sleep in each others embrace.
<11:30a>
I get up, Howies gone by now so I take a
shower and get ready for the day. Check messages, go get something
to eat, grab a table and start to eat. A lot of people stop
by to see how I’m doing. It’s a little unnerving to find out
how many people seem to care for me, usually it’s the other
way around, I’m the one that stops to see how people are doing.
Phyllis stops by to see if I want to help with BSB, I tell her
that I’ll help later, but I’m busy for the rest of today. Jane,
Bob, Nick, and Brian stop by to see when I can work on their
fear. ‘Is Pat heading over?’ ‘He’s right behind us.’ ‘Ok, I’ll
talk to him and let you know. Now that Jane and Bob to a table
and enjoy lunch.’ as they leave I see Pat and wave him over,
‘Hey Pat, have a seat, how’s it going?’ ‘Not bad, BSB should
be ready to solo in a couple of days, so when you can get something
set up let me know. When do you want to work on B-rok and Chaos?’
‘Right after lunch, if I can find Pat R.’ ‘Ok I’ll put the crew
on hold till your done.’ ‘I also need to talk to Jeff and Randy,
but that won’t take long, so hopefully I’ll be ready by 1:00.’
‘What are you going to need?’ ‘A chair. Pat will fly them around
the room while I find the fear and block it. Speaking of Pat,
here he is.’ He sees us and walks over, ‘You going to be ready
by 1:00?’ I ask, ‘You bet, where are we going to do it?’ ‘The
Danger room, safer there.’ ‘Yeah, your right.’ ‘I’ll meet you
there, I’ve got a couple of things to do first.’ ‘ See you in
a few.’ ‘Later.’ he heads to a table. ‘Pat I’m going to see
if Nicks brother Aaron has powers later today, when I bring
him back for testing I’ll use the Danger room, do you want to
be there?’ ‘Might as well, I don’t have anything planned.’ ‘Ok
I’ll let you know when we get back. Now I’d better go. See you
in a few.’ ‘Later.’ ‘Nick…meet me in the Danger room at 1:00,
bring Brian, and your parents also.’ He looks up and nods.
I go and drop the tray in the kitchen, then head to the maintenance
area.
<Maintenance area>
I see Randy cleaning up and I walk up to
him, ‘Is the blackbird ready?’ ‘Yes she is. Who’s flying her?’
‘I am, who else?’ ‘I’ll have the barricade and rescue team ready.’
<grin> ‘Thanks…just because I don’t use her very often,
you know I can still fly her.’ ‘Yeah…but I’d rather be safe
then sorry.’ <GRIN> ‘You just love to stroke my ego don’t
you?’ ‘Someone has to.’ ‘I should be ready by 1:30 if not sooner.’
‘She’s all yours, just take of her. I’m going to lunch. See
you when we get back.’ ‘Yeah, see you later.’ Randy heads to
the kitchen, and I teleport to my room.
<My room>
I grab the mic. and pack, then ‘pop’ to Jeff’s
office
<Jeff’s office>
‘Hey Jeff, how goes it?’ ‘Not bad, what do
I owe the honor?’ ‘Do you think you can put the masker in here?’
I ask while I hand him the mic. and pack. ‘Who thought of it?’
‘I did, who’d you think? ‘You never know.’ ‘Thanks I’ll remember
that.’ <grin> ‘No trouble.’ ‘I’m also going to need more
regular maskers and chargers, lets make the order for 100 and
I’ll split them up with Brent.’ ‘Ok that’ll take a little while,
but we’ll get them done as soon as we can.’ ‘Later then, I gotta
go, I’m needed at the Danger room.’ I ‘pop’ to the danger room,
‘Damn I hate it when he does that.’ Jeff says as I leave.
<Danger room>
Everyone is waiting when I ‘pop’ in. ‘Sorry
that took longer then I thought it would.’ ‘Yeah…right…your
just getting old.’ ‘What was that Pat?’ <evil grin> ‘I
said I’m heading to the control room, do your thing.’ Pat heads
to the control room, fast. ‘Let me get my links ready then I’ll
start.’ I walk over to Pat R., put my hand on his forehead,
‘Can you hear me Pat?’ ‘Yeah I can.’ ‘Ok this is what I want
you to do. Pick the guys up after they sit down, and fly them
around the room, then I’ll block the fear. Don’t worry about
the screams, just listen to me.’ ‘Will do.’ I walk over
to Nick and get the link setup. ‘Nick, can you hear me?’
‘ Yeah.’ ‘Ok sit down and relax, I’m going to go deep in to
your mind, just like Gary did, it may take a little while, depending
how deep it is, but you’ll be ok when I’m done.’ He sits
down, I give Pat a thumbs up, look at Pat R., he nods, ‘OK guys
please go over by the door, we’re about to begin. And B-rok,
don’t interfere.’ He blushes and looks at his shoes. ‘Pat…lets
do it.’ ‘Starting now.’ Nick starts to float up and turns
white. I close my eyes and go into his psyche, find his fear
and put up a strong block, then back out of his mind, look up
and he’s smiling and waving. ’Ok Pat, bring him back. B-rok,
your turn.’
He walks over and I do the same thing I did
to Nick, Pat R. lifts him up and starts to fly him around the
room. I have to go deeper into his psyche than Nick, but get
the job done. When I back out of his mind I look up , he’s smiling
and waves. Pat R. brings him back and I look at the control
room, ‘Pat I’ll let you know if I need you later, have fun.’
‘Thanks, I’ll be around.’ ‘Who’d like to come with me so
I can check out my handy work? Nick…Brian…you have no choice.’
I look at Jane, Bob, and Pat R., they all nod, ‘Follow me.’
I open a portal to the hanger, and we walk through.
